Pusha T and Pharrell Williams are turning a longtime creative ritual into a new business venture. The longtime collaborators have launched Grindin’ Coffee, named after “Grindin’,” the 2002 Clipse track produced by Pharrell and Chad Hugo as The Neptunes.

The song became one of Clipse’s signature hits. Now its name connects a piece of the duo’s musical history with the coffee habit that accompanied years of working together. Pharrell has said coffee was part of their studio routine, helping fuel long days spent creating music and developing new projects.

Pusha T has described those days as starting early, often around 5 a.m., with black coffee or espresso. Work could stretch through lengthy studio sessions and include exercise, such as long bike rides, before the collaborators returned to their projects. Grindin’ Coffee takes that disciplined routine and gives it a product and brand.

The launch includes medium and dark roasts, available as ground coffee or whole beans. The dark roast blends beans from Central and South America with beans from Southeast Asia, with cocoa, caramel and brown spice notes. The medium roast features South American beans and flavors of bittersweet chocolate, caramel and roasted hazelnut.

Both blends are intended for different brewing styles, including filter coffee, espresso and cold brew. The brand is aimed at people with demanding schedules, from early risers to those who work late into the night.

Italian coffee company Lavazza is working with the artists to expand the venture. That partnership could help bring Grindin’ Coffee beyond the studio-inspired idea behind its launch and into a wider coffee market.

For Pusha T and Pharrell, the venture reflects how a familiar part of their creative process can become a business. The name recalls an influential song from their early years together, while the product draws on the daily habits that have stayed with them as their careers have grown.
