Score another one for cool girl Solange Knowles. The indie music singer-songwriter with the edgy taste in clothing has become quite the businesswoman. Recently, she was tapped to be the new face of fashion company Eleven Paris?s spring/summer 2015 campaign, which is inspired by Johannesburg, South Africa.
And the Houston-native is the perfect fit.
In 2012, she filmed her popular video, ?Losing You? in Cape Town, South Africa, showcasing the best in ?high society? fashion and getting down with members of the Le Sapeurs subculture.
Dan Cohen, the company’s co-founder, said the company “wanted spokesmodels who would represent another facet of Eleven Paris, one that is constantly on the lookout for emerging creative movements and which has designed to the rhythm of indie music since 2003.” (“Indie music?” Check. A few years ago, Solange launched her independent label, Saint Records, through which she produced her contemporary R&B album, Saint Heron. “Creative movements?” Check. Although she obviously didn’t create ‘the Afro’, she can certainly be credited with popularizing it for her generation. Hair and style professionals alike can’t stop talking about it, especially since natural hair has become a movement in the last decade, changing the conversation in Black hair care salons across the nation.)? ? ?
Solange?s new deal with the Parisian company isn?t her first foray into the fashion business. She?s had contracts with Puma, Madewell and cosmetic company Rimmel London, just to name a few. And her brand keeps growing.?
With this new Eleven Paris gig, the sought-after New Orleans resident follows in the footsteps of other fashion/music mavens who have starred in the company’s past campaigns including rocker Lenny Kravitz, Kate Moss and rapper Wiz Khalifa.
