Sandra Phillips was named general counsel and chief legal officer, Toyota Motor North America (TMNA). She is the first African American woman to hold this title.
Prior, she served as vice president and deputy general counsel, Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) where she is credited with building an integrated North American legal services group, Toyota Legal One (“TL1”).????
Earlier in her career, she worked at pharmaceutical company Pfizer as senior vice president and associate general counsel, chief litigation counsel.
In her new role, Phillips will be responsible for legal representation of Toyota and its North America affiliates.?
A former partner at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Houston, Texas, Phillips attended the University of Texas at Austin where she earned both a bachelor?s degree in journalism and a law degree.
