Ryan Stewart describes himself as a creative strategic planner. As vice president of communications at renowned PR firm The Terrie Williams Agency, he often works on projects that may be of a ?sensitive? nature. This is where he shines. ?There is never a dull moment at the agency. Each day, we think about the best strategic plan to appeal to the masses. Thinking creatively and outside the box brings me joy,? he explains.

Stewart earned a bachelor?s degree at St. John?s University. The key word in his business is ?strategic.? ?In 2011, when we were helping to find a new executive director for the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, there was a rumor that the Center was facing closure. We were brought on to get out the message that everything was fine. So, we created a town hall event featuring activists and community members who reassured people. It was a success,? he recalls. He joined the agency in 2008 and is responsible for handling its internal and external communications, writing proposals and handling red carpet events. He also serves as the liaison between clients and CEO Terrie Williams.?

For someone who had planned to become an attorney, Stewart has enjoyed his tenure at TWA. ?Growing up, I would read about people making a difference or see celebrities on my favorite TV shows. ?Working here now, I see history flash before my eyes. I never thought I would meet civil rights activist Dorothy Height in her last days of life, or meet comedian Bill Cosby, and work with actress Cicely Tyson and the late legendary actress Ruby Dee. Working with the agency and its longevity, I am involved in a piece of history,? Stewart says.?

When he?s not working, Stewart enjoys traveling and helping students to navigate through college and life.
