According to a post on the NY Times’ site, Robert L. Capers is a top pick to replace Loretta Lynch as U.S. Attorney, Eastern District. This year, Lynch became the United States Attorney General. She replaced Eric Holder.
In May, Senator Chuck Schumer announced his plans to recommend Capers’s candidacy to President Obama.
“He rose to the top on the merits. He’s really smart, he’s very hardworking, nose to the grindstone, not flashy, gets the job done and gets it done superbly,” Schumer said of Capers.
According to the post, Capers, 44, “was a prosecutor for the Manhattan district attorney’s office and for
the office of the city’s special narcotics prosecutor before moving to
the Eastern District.”
A resident of New Jersey, Capers attended New York University and received his J.D. from Albany Law School.
