Racquel Oden, formerly of Merrill Lynch, was named divisional director in consumer banking at JP Morgan Chase.
At Merrill, Oden was the managing director, head of adviser strategy and development. In a 2016 interview with The Network Journal when she was named a “25 Influential Black Women in Business” honoree, Oden remarked that she had changed the face of Wall Street, a career achievement she was most proud of.
“Historically, hiring women and minorities into the wealth management business is something we have not been able to do,” she told TNJ Senior Editor Sergie Willoughby. “But I hire more than 1,700 advisors a year and I’ve made it a commitment to put diversity at the forefront of my job.”
In that role, she was responsible for leading new adviser development programs, and business development and client acquisition for the company’s 14,000+ advisers.
In her new role at JP Morgan, she is charged with overseeing customer deposits and investments in the Northeast.
Oden attended James Madison University where she earned her bachelor’s degree, and Hampton University where she earned her MBA.
