J. IvyLast night, Grammy-Award winning poet J. Ivy was recognized by BlackDoctor.org when he took home the ‘Top Blacks in Healthcare’ award at their annual gala.

BlackDoctor.org is the leading online health destination for African Americans.

“It is such an honor to be appreciated by this organization,” J. Ivy stated. “I am inspired by their work in the community and how they enrich people’s lives.”

The award was given in acknowledgment of J. Ivy’s accomplishments and reputation as a community healer. He is celebrated throughout pop culture for his performance poetry, motivational speaking and hip-hop collaborations.?

“J. delivers a powerful message of hope, transforming his pain into power,” noted Deepak Chopra, a spiritual leader and best-selling author. J. Ivy’s work has enhanced the emotional health of boys and girls in addition to teenagers and adults.

The author of the new book, ?Dear Father: Breaking the Cycle of Pain,? J. Ivy is the recipient of a Peabody award for his work on HBO?s ?Def Poetry Jam? was well as a Grammy award for his work on Kanye West?s ?College Dropout? cd. His latest works involve a commissioned poem and performance for Michael Jordan’s 30th anniversary for the Jordan brand and a feature on Estelle’s song, “Time Share” on her new album, “True Romance.”?
