After leading Editorial as Editor-in-Chief at EBONY magazine for less than a year, Mitzi Miller is leaving her post.
“I’ve always subscribed to the principle of living in the present and remaining open to all of life’s opportunities,” Miller said in a statement. “So I believe that now is an exciting time to start a new chapter in my life.”
Miller replaced Amy DuBois Barnett who left to work with ESPN on a site that caters to African Americans in sports.
The news comes on the heels of Johnson Publishing’s announcement last month that it would sell its historic photo archive collection due to financial issues.
Before her role at EBONY, Miller served as editor-in-chief at JET, which announced plans in May to transition to digital.
Prior to joining the EBONY/JET family, Miller held editorial positions at several magazines including Set, Jane and Honey. The co-author of the book, The Vow, Miller earned a bachelors degree from Florida A&M University.
