Certified Meeting Professional Mike D. Gunn was named senior vice president at the Greater Birmingham Convention & Visitors Bureau. Previously, he was vice president of convention sales, a position he held for 10 years.
In his new role, Gunn will continue to be responsible for the operation of the convention sales staff in booking state, regional, national and international convention business for the greater Birmingham area. He oversees a multimillion-dollar sales and marketing budget and is responsible for short-and long-term strategic plans.
A past member of the Destination Marketing Association International Foundation Board, Gunn is the recipient of several awards including the Alabama Tourism Dept’s 2009 “Tourism Executive of the Year” award and National Coalition of Black Meeting Planners? 2001 “Supplier of the Year” award.
