In more news of personnel shakeups at Johnson Publishing Communications (JPC), Kierna Mayo has been named editor-in-chief of Ebony magazine.
Mayo replaces Mitzi Miller who left in February. Prior to that, Amy DuBois Barnett served as editor-in-chief from 2010-2014.?
Mayo, 45, has been in the media space for more than 20 years and has worked for several publications including Essence, Marie Claire, Glamour, Seventeen, Vibe and Uptown. She is also credited with being a co-creator and founding editor-in-chief of Honey magazine.
Since 2011, she has served as editorial director of Ebony.
News of the new hire comes as JPC continues to navigate financial difficulties that led to the end of Jet magazine and the impending sale of Ebony?s historic photo archives.?
