ChaneyAward-winning journalist Kathy Chaney was named managing director at Ebony magazine. Prior to joining Ebony, Chaney was a reporter and producer for Chicago Public Media station, WBEZ-FM.

Prior to that, she served as senior executive producer at black-owned radio station WVON-AM.? She also served as managing editor of the Chicago Defender, one of the nation’s oldest Black newspapers.?

The current president of the National Association of Black Journalists, Chaney is a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and Investigative Reporters and Editors.

A graduate of Loyola University and Western Illinois University, Chaney has also held top positions at Reuters, Associated Press, Chicago Tribune and Crain?s Chicago Business.
