By the age of 8, Kareem Harper had already written his first program in BASIC, an early programming language. While earning her bachelor?s degree, his mother persuaded a college professor to let him take programming classes because she saw his early interest in computers. After receiving his own computer, Harper continued to hone his programming skills and learned additional programming languages. ?If you master your craft, no door can remain shut,? he quotes his mother as saying.

As vice president of Measurement & Analytics at Weber Shandwick, one of the world?s leading global public relations firms, Harper is able to tap into his natural math and science skills and combine those with his deep understanding in the digital space. ?He develops and leads analytics programs covering digital, social and traditional media channels. Harper began his career in digital editing and later transitioned to digital marketing. He held roles at Time Inc., The College Board and UGO Entertainment before joining Weber Shandwick.?

Fascinated by Asian culture, Harper began to teach himself Japanese in high school. He started with simple audio-learning cassettes and films, and moved on to language immersive experiences while attending Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where he earned a bachelor?s degree in political science. It all paid off, as he is now a fluent Japanese speaker. He keeps his skills fresh by watching Japanese films.?

Harper attributes his academic and professional success to his ?natural curiosity? and ?the imprinted lessons from my parents that learning is a continuous process.? He remarks, ?If you ask most individuals that have worked with me professionally, one thing that always comes up is my high amount of energy and enthusiasm that I truly attribute to my father, who taught me by example that all of life?s challenges can be met with a smile and positive attitude.? ?
