Karen Williams of Essence has been promoted to vice president of Sales and Marketing. In this role, she will oversee marketing efforts for Essence.com, Essence’s signature events such as the Essence Music Festival and the magazine. Prior to this, she was the Associate Publisher, Marketing. Before joining Essence, Williams was the Vice President, Integrated Marketing and Promotions for the ABC Family Cable Network. Williams has a bachelor of arts in economics from UCLA and an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School.
