Dean Baquet was named managing editor for news at The New York Times. Previously, he was the paper’s Washington bureau chief. Since 1990, he has held top positions at The Times including metropolitan reporter, deputy metropolitan editor and national editor. Before that, he worked for the Los Angeles Times, The Chicago Tribune and The Times Picayune.
In 1998, Baquet was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. He attended Columbia University as an Engilsh major.
