The Poynter Institute has named Christopher Warren director of the Institute’s Write Field program.
Warren has served the Write Field initiative as a mentor for three years and succeeds Kenny Irby, a Poynter faculty member who left the Institute in November. Currently, he directs a National Institute of Health-funded resource and referral program supporting African American families at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg.
A one-year interim executive director at the Dr. Carter G. Woodson African American Museum, he has held adjunct faculty positions at both Tallahassee Community College and St. Petersburg College. Warren earned a bachelor?s and master?s degree from Florida A&M University and a Ph.D. from Purdue University.
