The National GEM Consortium (GEM) today announced that Brennon Marcano has been named Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the National GEM Consortium (GEM).
?As we all know, STEM education initiatives are a key driver in the continued growth of the U.S. economy,? said Eric Evans, president of the GEM Executive Committee. ?Ensuring that those initiatives include the active participation of underrepresented minorities is the mission of the National GEM Consortium, and we believe Brennon?s expertise will be critical in connecting companies and organizations to GEM students to help develop their STEM and leadership skills as we move forward in the 21st Century.?
In his new role, Marcano will not only provide inspirational leadership of GEM?s vision and core values, but also grow and execute the organization?s programs and plans.? These include new business development, and long-term strategic, fundraising and communication planning.
Prior to joining GEM, Marcano served as executive director at the Council for Urban Professionals in New York and taught, as an adjunct professor, at New York University?s Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.? Before those positions, he was executive director of Workforce Opportunity Services.? Previously, he held numerous management positions with Prudential, and has taught students at both Rutgers University and Columbia University.
Marcano earned a master?s degree in technology management from Columbia University and a bachelor of arts in business journalism from Baruch College.
