Vice President, Goldman Sachs
Los Angeles, Calif. Age: 35
Guided by the biblical assertion, ?If ye have faith as a grain of a mustard seed, nothing shall be impossible for you,? Stephanie Ivy believes she can accomplish anything she undertakes. Her role as vice president in the investment management division and for institutional sales/relationship management at Goldman Sachs & Co. is a testament to her drive. She is responsible for generating new business in the United States and for relationship management across all investment strategies, and plays a vital part in strategic initiatives and new product offerings.
Ivy joined Goldman Sachs in 1997. Seeing the value of her contributions, top executives repeatedly recommended her for the firm?s prestigious leadership development programs. She is quick to acknowledge the importance of such support from management, as well as the support of her parents, for her achievements, professional and otherwise. Those achievements include her induction into Phi Beta Kappa when she attended Wesleyan University.
Ivy?s commitment to serving her community, which she fulfills mainly through her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church, and Goldman Sachs, has earned her numerous awards. She devotes time to the Big Brother, Big Sister program, the New York State Health Facilities Association program, feeding the homeless and others less fortunate during the holidays, helping with Habitat for Humanity and participating in fund-raising projects for nonprofit organizations and political campaigns.
Family and friends have always been her source of inspiration. They continue to keep her grounded. If Ivy had all of the time in the world to do just as she pleased, she would host a television show entitled, ?The Ivy Vine,? for people in their thirties. The content, she says, would focus on news, careers, finances and social issues. Naturally, Ivy would also be sure to engage in philanthropic work.
Ivy is a graduate of Harvard University with an M.P.P., and she earned a B.A. from Wesleyan University with a dual major in government and African-American studies. Currently, Ivy resides in Playa Vista, Calif., with her husband.
