Renee LaRoche-Morris
Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer, Wealth Management
BNY Mellon Wealth Management
New York, N.Y.
For more than 20 years, Renee LaRoche-Morris? professional career has been steeped in the financial services industry. She has worked at some major firms, progressing quickly through hard work, commitment and skill. ?Financial services is fairly complicated. It?s like a big logic game and I like solving problems,? she says of her attraction to the industry.
LaRoche-Morris is a managing director and chief financial officer for BNY Mellon Wealth Management. Critical to her work with her team is developing, tracking and disseminating information to accelerate income growth, preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. ?The most important lesson I?ve learned is that you can?t be so focused on the numbers that you lose sight of what?s driving the numbers ? understanding what happens, why it happens, what we can control, and how to make decisions in response,? she says. She learned other lessons early. ?I was raised in a household that encouraged independence and accountability from an early age. Learning to rely on myself and knowing I was accountable for my actions helped me develop courage, a strong work ethic, resiliency and understanding ? all of which benefit me daily,? she explains. Faced with a challenge, ?I take five minutes to think about it. I?m certain there?s nothing I can?t get accomplished as long as I?m clear what the issue is and engage the right people,? she says.
LaRoche-Morris has a bachelor?s degree in foreign affairs from the University of Virginia, an MBA with double concentration in finance and marketing from Columbia Business School, and series 7 and 24 securities licenses. Committed to the personal and professional development of others, particularly youth and professionals of color, she is a leader in BNY Mellon?s Diversity and Inclusion strategy and serves on the board of Teaching Firms of America ? Professional Preparatory Charter School.
