After this statement from Newsom came out, the President decided to deploy as many as 5,000 personnel in LA, which also includes Marines, in addition to National Guard troops. According to the reports, there are currently 5,000 National Guard troops and 700 US Marines deployed in Los Angeles. Newsom mentioned how Trump’s immigration efforts are not only targeting criminals. He claims that the people impacted also include dishwashers, gardeners, day laborers, and seamstresses. Newsom has filed an emergency motion in the court against Trump using National Guard troops and Marines during immigration operations in LA.

What Did The ICE Say About The Deployment Of National Guard Troops And Marines?

The National Guard troops were originally deployed in LA to secure federal properties. However, according to the latest pictures ICE shared this Tuesday, the troops were seen guarding ICE officers while they carried out their immigration operations. To this, ICE released an official statement to the public and clarified the use of National Guard troops. It stated that the troops were providing security at the federal facilities while also offering protection to the officers who were carrying out daily enforcement operations. This definitely is an expansion of the duties of the National Guard troops.
