W.P. Carey & Co. buys 9 self-storage facilities

NEW YORK (AP) ? Investment management company W.P. Carey & Co. said Wednesday that it bought nine self-storage facilities from A-American Self Storage for $46 million through a publicly held, non-traded real estate investment trust affiliate.

The company said the facilities are in California, Illinois and Hawaii and have 662,000 square feet of storage space. The four California-based properties and two Hawaii-based properties will be managed by Extra Space Storage, while SecurCare Self Storage will manage the three Illinois facilities.

W.P. Carey gained 42 cents to close at $38.80.
