Why should you choose the new Windows Phone 8.1? Here’s why.
With the Windows Phone 8.1, one can definitely say that the Windows phone has finally come of age. Its developers added a whole set of new features to make it even more personal and a lot smarter. So, what does the new Windows phone has to offer? Let’s take a closer look.
Introducing the New Windows Phone 8.1
The Windows phone was originally designed to reflect your personality but the 8.1 takes the bar a notch higher and brings the things you care about the most right there on your Start screen so you can simply “glance and go”. In addition, the new Windows Phone now features an Action Center which allows you to see notifications from any app. It also introduces its very own digital personal assistant, Cortana.?
The Start Screen
The Windows Phone 8.1 allows users the ability to customize backgrounds on the Start screen. With the 8.1, you can choose to skin the Live Tiles with one of your favorite photos. Most of the tiles will then become transparent so you can easily see the background as you scroll up and down. Is there a better way to customize your Start screen than this??
Action Center
With the new Windows Phone, you can easily get the information you need without unlocking the screen or exiting an app. This was previously not possible but with the introduction of the Action Center, users can now access the settings they care about the most without digging through the various menus. Unlike its iOS counterparts, you can simply swipe away or clear your notifications all at once or sync them with your Live Tiles and apps in real-time.
Cortana
The 8.1 introduces Cortana, Microsoft’s own version of Apple’s Siri and Google Now. So, what can Cortana do? In a nutshell, Cortana can help you organize your day-to-day activities. Cortana continuously learns about your habits, interests and daily routine, and uses her Notebook to store information about you. As such, Cortana will remind you of your flight schedules, meetings and appointments, tell you the weather, and monitor stuff you care about.
You can ask Cortana to set your quiet hours and she will restrict incoming calls, texts and notifications except those that are coming from people who are closest to you. You can even use this feature to set up reminders about specific people and it will automatically flash on screen the moment that person calls. Cortana was also designed to interact with third party apps on your phone so you can ask her to send a tweet, make a video call on Skype and everything else in between.
The Windows Phone 8.1 now also supports swipe gestures, and has a totally improved calendar and battery saver. With all these features, there is no doubt that the new Windows Phone is set to deliver excellent user experience. Try it and see for yourself how great it can be.
