The startup company OnePlus has done the unthinkable. It has recently launched the OnePlus One, an android-based smartphone that packs in some outstanding features for a surprisingly low price. So, what makes the OnePlus One such an amazing deal? Here is a rundown of all its cool features.

Getting to Know the OnePlus One

This newly launched Android device is a 5.5 inch smartphone powered by a quad-core 2.5GHz processor with 3 GB RAM. It features a 1920 x 1080 display, 13 megapixel camera and 16 GB storage. Best of all, it comes at a remarkably low price of $299. Indeed, the OnePlus One is an incredibly affordable smartphone that looks good and performs exceptionally well. Let’s take a closer look at how good it really is.

The Hardware

The OnePlus One looks elegant and feels solid. Despite its large size, the device will rest naturally in your hands, thanks to its arched back. It has good quality screen which provides excellent color rendering and has a slab of Gorilla Glass 3 to make it more scratch-resistant. It also features a 5 megapixel front-facing camera, a 13 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash, and interchangeable back covers for added customization.

The Software

The One runs CyanogenMod 11S, a custom firmware that allows users to customize every aspect of their Android experience. As such, you can fiddle with it and change the skin of your device, customize the status bar, and tweak just about everything. You can also download various fonts, sound packs, wallpapers and boot animations to further customize your smartphone.

The device also lets you use gestures to activate different phone functions. You can double-tap your device to wake it up, use a circular gesture to activate the camera, and use a V motion to activate the LED flashlight.?

Performance

With its powerful quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor and 3GB of RAM, the One definitely packs in a solid performance. With such power under its shell, you will not experience any visual glitches and lags.?

Some Minor Issues

The One is not perfect. After all, no one can expect to have a perfect phone at this low price range. Some users do not like the fact that it is huge, lacks external memory and has a non-removable battery. Some have issues regarding its soft audio output while others are not contented with the performance of the device’s camera. However, all these issues are relatively minor, especially if you consider that this smartphone costs less than half of most of its competitors.
