During the West Fest carnival at Centennial Park in Utah, many people got injured and many fatalities occurred due to reckless shooting in the open. This incident happened on Sunday, 15 June 2025, where three deaths were recorded while two people were found injured at the venue.
As the incident occurred, the West Valley Police Department posted a message on X saying that there had been a shooting incident at Centennial Park and the investigating team was on the run to reach there. Media was asked to be staged at standby.

After the incident, the people who were targeted by the shooters were identified. The people who died the instant of getting shot include a 41-year-old lady, an eight-month-old infant, and an 18-year-old boy. Other than that, police have revealed that two people were injured, including a 17-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, who were saved as the bullet hit their arms. Other than this, a pregnant lady got hurt while she was trying to jump off a fence as the shoot happened. This is such a heartbreaking incident where three innocent souls were shot in the middle of the crowd. However, the police have declared the 41-year-old lady and the 8-month-old baby to be entirely innocent, while they are doubtful about any connection with the two teenagers shot in the arm.
Has the police got after any suspects?
The police have gone after a suspect who was 16 years old and is under the custody of the West Valley Police Department for interrogation. As per the Police Statement, the officers checking the venue for any possible clues at 9:20 pm spotted two groups of people who were in a disagreement in public. As they tried to calm down the fuzz, a 16-year-old kid took out a gun, pointing at them, and was immediately disarmed as he fired. This whole incident was briefed on the X post by the West Valley Police Department.
To disarm the suspect, the officer fired but did not hit him. Furthermore, the 16-year-old was taken into custody immediately for interrogation by the officials.
Interrogation of the suspect
The interrogation with the witnesses was given the first preference by the detective so that they could learn any more information that they might have missed. Also, they have urged the public to contact them, if they have any valuable information regarding this incident.
The interrogation with the witnesses was over on Sunday night, but the department is still willing to interview any other witness who might have left the venue during the shooting. The suspect is yet to be interviewed, but the Police department is still not convinced whether the attack had any gang ties or not.
They are even tying the shooting incident with the shooting incident that happened during the ‘No Kings’ protest, where a 39-year-old was shot to death in Salt Lake City.
