US edge higher as Europe nears final Greece deal

NEW YORK (AP) ? U.S. stocks are inching higher at the opening of trading as investors wait for European leaders to put the final touches on a massive bailout for Greece.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 40 points in the first few minutes of trading to 12,962.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 edged up 2 to 1,373 and the Nasdaq composite rose 5 points to 2,993.

Markets in France, the U.K., Spain and Greece were mixed as Eurozone leaders head into a meeting to try to hammer out the final details of a second bailout program for Greece.
