Rising Underemployment Numbers Among African American Workers Troubling


Marc Morial and underemploymentWhile unemployment has been an ongoing concern among African American workers, recent underemployment numbers are troubling, according to the National Urban League. The statistics are noted in the League’s annual State of Black America report.   

According to an article published by the Associated Press, underemployment is defined as workers who are jobless or working part-time, but seeking full-time jobs.     

“Many Americans are being left behind and that includes African-Americans and Latinos who are being disproportionately left behind by the creation that we see,” National Urban League President Marc Morial said.
