According to sources, Ukraine has attacked major Russian military airbases by implementing a drone attack situated deep inside the Russian boundaries. The attack was done after both countries had agreed to a peace talk to sort out the matters.

On the attack, Russia confirmed the attack from Ukraine implemented on Sunday. According to them, the drone strike attacked 5 military bases, due to which they had to bear the loss of several aircraft. This attack has been the largest one-day attack by Ukraine since the war broke out.

Highlights of the drone attack on Russia

Five regions of Russian military airbases were attacked and suffered losses. These five regions are- Murmansk, Irkutsk, Ivanovo, Ryazan, and Amur, which responded to the attack as well. 3 of 5 military areas were successful in blocking the attack, except Murmansk and Irkutsk. In these areas, the drones were detected when they got too close to the military airbase. The inability to neutralize these attacks led to many aircraft catching fire in these regions.

However, no major loss other than aircraft catching fire was reported. The fire, too, was extinguished in time by the soldiers on duty, and some people who are suspected of this attack are under arrest.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s statement on the attack

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy seems to be satisfied with the drone attack executed in Russia on Sunday. He praised their ‘brilliant’ attack on Russia with 117 drones prepared to attack the military bases of Russia. The President also revealed that his forces had been preparing this attack from around more than a year and a half, which is now successful.

The country is celebrating an attack on Russia, which had been the longest one-day attack they have made till now. According to them, a huge loss of assets has to be borne by Russia after this attack, which is now susceptible, after Russia has given its statement.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU)

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has revealed that a total loss of $7 billion would be incurred by Russia after their drone attack on their military bases. The targets they set were not in the frontline region of Russia. Rather, they were hidden in the depths of kilometers from the front-line borders of Russia, which makes it a successful mission in Ukraine.

A source within SBU revealed a piece of internal information that this attack was conducted to block the bomber weapons in Russia near the borders of Ukraine. As per reports, approximately 41 bombers were destroyed at Russian military bases, which is a massive number. After collecting information from the ground witnesses, Ukrainian media have confirmed that the drones were launched from near the airbases in Russia. This information tells that several Ukrainians have entered the Russian premises, which ultimately led to this attack.

Russia’s response to the Ukraine drone attack

Russia and Ukraine’s attacks have intensified over the past week after several attacks took place from both sides. These developments in attacks began when Russia executed a 472-drone attack on Ukraine at night, which led to a lot of destruction. According to Russia, they had been sending their people to cover the area of Sumy in Ukraine for an attack. Ukraine Air Force confirmed the drone attack and added the launch of 7 missiles in Ukraine.

According to open-source pro-Ukrainian maps, Russia occupied 450 sq km of land in Ukraine in May. On it, the Ukrainian government declared a peace talk session with the Russian officials after sending a delegation to Istanbul. On Monday, Turkiye will be the host of the meeting on Donald Trump’s demand for ending the war on fair terms.

Zelenskyy also expressed his demands for initiating a ceasefire after Russia releases the Ukrainian prisoners. However, Russia has refused to release them until the peace talk is executed.

Conclusion

The war between Russia and Ukraine has been on a run since 2022 and still hasn’t dimmed. However, with this peace talk on Monday, we may expect a complete ceasefire. The past week, as said, was full of attacks from both sides, and thus, a peace treaty is required to stop any more damage.
