LONDON (AP) ? British police say they have seized equipment as part of an investigation into thousands of emails stolen from the University of East Anglia two years ago.

The University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit became embroiled in controversy in 2009 when climate change skeptics, using more than 1,000 emails stolen from the center, charged that scientists had tampered with data to exaggerate the threat of global warming.

Several inquiries have since refuted the charges.

Norfolk Police said Thursday that officers executed a search warrant at a West Yorkshire property on Wednesday and seized computer equipment during a search.

It said no one was arrested in the operation, which is tied to the investigation into stolen emails that started in November 2009.
