UK arrests 2 suspected computer hackers

LONDON (AP) ? British police say they have arrested two men as part of an ongoing investigation with the FBI into attacks carried out by the hacking groups Anonymous and Lulz Security.

Police said Thursday a 24-year-old and a 20-year-old were arrested in relation to a series of “serious computer intrusions” and denial-of-service attacks on companies, public institutions, government and law enforcement agencies in the U.K. and U.S.

Police said the men remain in custody for questioning and that computer equipment has been seized as part of the investigation.

Hacking group Lulz Security has claimed responsibility for attacks on targets such as Sony Corp., the CIA and Britain’s Serious Organized Crime Agency.

The group is a spin-off of Anonymous, whose targets have included Visa and MasterCard.
