Tudou licenses ‘Cars 2’ for on-demand viewing

LOS ANGELES (AP) ? Chinese online video company Tudou Holdings Ltd. said Tuesday that it agreed to license the right to show The Walt Disney Co.’s animated movie “Cars 2” to its online customers on demand for a fee.

Tudou said it was the first time that a film from Disney’s Pixar Animation Studios has been made available to an online video website in mainland China.

Viewers can choose to watch the film in Mandarin, Cantonese or English.

In September, Tudou licensed shows from Disney’s ABC including “Revenge,” ”Castle,” and “Desperate Housewives.” It also licensed the right to premiere Disney’s film series “Winnie the Pooh” in Chinese in June.

Tudou shares fell 38 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $15.82 in midday trading.
