Deputy Chief Financial Officer and Director of Finance ? NYC Health and Hospital Corp. ? New York City ? Age: 36
Tracy V. Green always had a penchant for numbers, so it?s no surprise that in just two years she has become deputy chief financial officer and director of finance at New York Harlem Hospital Center. She oversees auditing, general accounting, accounts payable, cash management, data processing and financial reporting and also assists in budget management. Green also has served as affiliation and audit manager, controller and interim chief financial officer. ?Using my education and expertise in the public sector for the benefit of millions of people is the greatest cause I can champion,? says Green. She first championed the cause as a budget analyst in the Mayor?s Office of Management and Budget, where she prepared the financials for the merger of the Emergency Medical Services bureau and the Fire Department of New York. She later took a job with the N.Y.C. Department of Health, managing more than $80 million of private and publicly funded grants and contracts.
Green ventured into the private sector as a consultant with Accenture and provided financial services to Fortune 500 companies. After two and a half years, of corporate life Green returned to the public sector and was eventually appointed assistant deputy commissioner of the Budget Office, overseeing a $6.1 billion budget. She credits her success in the public sector to her decision to challenge herself. ?Every day I push myself to do my job better, faster and of course, cheaper,? she says. ?The constant effort is a huge accelerant.? While Green is proud of the work she does, her most rewarding responsibilities, she says, come from caring for her family?her husband, Claude Boutin, and son, Jackson.
Green received a bachelor?s degree in political science from Morgan State University and a master?s in public administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She also received a certificate in financial planning from St. John?s University.
