The regulatory agency conducted several tests to determine the safety levels of the Cybertruck. It received 5 stars in the Frontal crash protection test as well as the Side crash protection test. Safety Concerns Addressed

The safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration proved Cybertruck to be the safest for users driving the car. However, the major safety concerns were not about the ones inside the car but the ones outside. The stainless steel angular design of the Tesla Cybertruck sparked major debates over its safety among industry experts. The critics expressed their concerns that the rigid and sharp-edged vehicle may pose risks to pedestrians in case of an accident.

The 5-star ratings still addressed most of the safety concerns as it indicates the Tesla Cybertruck is specifically engineered to meet stringent safety standards. Its remarkable success in almost all the crash tests assures the users as well as the public about its resistance to accidents.

Initial Challenges

Tesla Cybertruck faced several challenges since its launch into the US markets. These challenges include 26 consumer complaints and two federal investigations. It has also been recalled around 7 times because of issues with various components like the accelerator, windshield wipers, and more. Despite the challenges, Tesla has always made extra efforts to address concerns and implement fixes.

Impact On Sales

Tesla made a sale of around 30,000 Cybertrucks in 2024, which is definitely a smaller fraction of the overall electric vehicle sales in US markets. However, the 5-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration may have a significant impact on its sales. It will expectedly help Tesla increase consumer confidence in Cybertrucks. This may lead to an eventual increase in its sales.

Public Reaction

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s 5-star safety ratings for Tesla Cybertruck have received mixed reactions from the public. While some highly appreciated the safety levels of the Cybertruck others raised questions about its high pricing and usage. Many X users reacted humorously to Elon’s “Apocalypse-level safe” comment.  Some even joked about how the users would charge the battery of the Cybertruck in an Apocalypse.

On the other hand, other X users raised more serious concerns like the usage of Cybertruck in harsh weather conditions. Many talked about the viral video of Cybertruck stuck in 3-inches of snow. The Public also raised questions about the high prices, calling it “Apocalypse-level preventive”. Ond X user even claimed it’s great as a safe room but called it garbage as a vehicle.
