NEW YORK (AP) ? Barnes & Noble Inc. on Monday said Target will be the latest retailer to sell its Nook electronic book reader.
Target will sell the $139 Nook Simple Touch Reader and the $249 Nook Color Reader Tablet and accessories, online and in stores, effective immediately.
Barnes & Noble, based in New York, has been expanding the number of retail outlets that sell The Nook. Other retailers include Best Buy, Books-A-Million, Office Max, Radio Shack, Staples, Target and Wal-Mart Stores Inc.
E-Readers and tablet computers are expected to be big sellers this holiday season. The Nook competes with Amazon.com’s Kindle e-book reader and its new Kindle Fire e-book reader, which also includes Web browsing and movie-streaming capabilities. Target, based in Minneapolis, already sells the Kindle in stores.
