PLAY TIME: Zynga is expanding its lineup of online games and creating more ways to play them. The company has programmed some games to work on Facebook’s new iPad app and it is working on its own online playground called “Project Z” so its users won’t have to play on other social networks.
SERIOUS BUSINESS AHEAD: The moves are being made as Zynga Inc. prepares to raise $1 billion in an initial public offering of stock.
BALANCING ACT: As it diversifies, Zynga must avoid alienating Facebook. Zynga still depends on Facebook for most of its revenue and users.
