PATENT DISPUTE: Yahoo Inc. is suing Facebook, saying it is infringing 10 of its patents covering advertising, privacy controls and social networking.
AHEAD OF IPO: The lawsuit comes just weeks before Facebook is due to cash in with its initial public stock offering, which is expected to value the social network at as much as $100 billion.
UNSPECIFIED DAMAGES: Yahoo is asking for unspecified damages and a jury trial. As with many patent suits, this one will likely be resolved in a settlement or licensing deal.
