THE RESULTS: Sony reported a $346 million loss for the latest quarter and downgraded its annual earnings forecast to stay in the red for the fourth straight year.
TROUBLES FOR THE COMPANY: Sony faces poor sales of flat panel TVs. In addition, a strong Japanese currency means that sales overseas are converted back into fewer yens.
PRODUCTION PROBLEMS: Sony also has suffered production disruptions from the widespread flooding in Thailand, which came on top of the supply problems from the March tsunami disaster in northeastern Japan.
