IN EUROPE: Netflix Inc.’s Internet video service made its debut in the United Kingdom and Ireland on Monday.
PRICING: It will cost 5.99 pounds per month in the U.K. and 6.99 euros in Ireland. That’s about $9 per month. Netflix charges $8 per month for Internet video in the U.S.
AROUND THE WORLD: Netflix has more than 20 million U.S. subscribers. It also has picked up about 1.5 million subscribers outside the U.S. since it expanded into Canada in 2010 and more than 40 Latin American countries last year. Amazon.com Inc.’s Lovefilm video service has about 2 million European subscribers.
