CANCER BATTLE: Patricia Dunn, the former chairwoman of Hewlett-Packard Co., has died at 58 after a bout with cancer. Her ovarian cancer had returned.
RISE AND FALL: She rose from a typist at an investment bank to the corporate upper class. But on HP’s board, she authorized a boardroom surveillance probe that ultimately sullied that remarkable rise and led to her resignation as HP chairwoman in 2006.
CIRCUMSTANCES: Dunn died Sunday morning at her home in Orinda surrounded by her family, according to her sister, Debbie Lammers.
