Summary Box: Disney, Comcast reach long-term deal

THE DEAL: The Walt Disney Co. and Comcast Corp have reached a 10-year deal covering major pay channels ESPN, Disney Channel and ABC Family and the retransmission of free ABC broadcast network programs through seven ABC TV stations.

WHAT IT ALLOWS: Comcast can carry those channels on its cable lineups. Comcast subscribers will also get greater access to shows on demand over the Internet on multiple devices.

COMPREHENSIVE: The companies agreed on the package covering 70 channels or services even though only a few agreements had expired at the end of 2011.
