DONE DEAL: Satellite TV provider Dish Network Corp. has completed its purchase of two satellite operators, DBSD North America Inc. and TerreStar Networks Inc., which Dish is buying out of bankruptcy.
THE HOPE: Dish wants to use their wireless licenses to offer broadband access that can help it compete better with cable TV and phone companies.
NEXT STEPS: It needs government permission to use the licenses more broadly. A review is pending before the Federal Communications Commission.
