THE COMEBACK: Cisco took a good look at itself last year and found it was too flabby, so it cut almost 10,000 jobs and a lot of its expansion initiatives. Now, its heading back to the kind of growth rates it aspires too.
BY THE NUMBERS: In the fiscal second quarter, which ended Jan. 29, Cisco earned $2.2 billion, up 44 percent from a year ago. Revenue was $11.5 billion, up 11 percent from a year ago.
HIRING AGAIN: Cisco added a net 400 jobs in the quarter, signaling that its restructuring is over. However, at 63,800 employees, it’s well below its peak of 73,408, hit last year.
