TAKING ON FACEBOOK: An Austrian law student has launched an online campaign aimed at forcing Facebook to abide by European data privacy laws ? something the California company insists it already does.
WHAT PROMPTED IT: Max Schrems asked Facebook to send him a record of his personal data. He got back 1,222 pages of data on a CD. It included chats he had deleted more than a year ago and hundreds of other details.
COMPANY RESPONSE: Facebook insists it is allowed to hold back data that include things that are not personal information, including fraud-protection measures.
