STRONG QUARTER: Activision Blizzard Inc. said Tuesday that its third-quarter net income nearly tripled, thanks to strong demand for its video games. The results surpassed Wall Street’s expectations.
GUIDANCE RAISED The company also raised its full-year outlook above analysts’ expectations after Tuesday’s launch of its latest “Call of Duty” blockbuster, which is expected to break industry sales records and propel its publisher’s holiday sales.
SUBSCRIBER DROP: Investors, though, seemed to focus on Activision’s other big game, “World of Warcraft,” which ended the quarter with 10.3 million active subscribers, a 7 percent drop. The company’s stock fell after hours.
