LOS ANGELES (AP) ? More than three decades after the original “Star Wars” hit movie theaters, News Corp.’s movie studio 20th Century Fox and producer Lucasfilm Ltd. say the force remains strong among the franchise’s fans.

The companies said Thursday that they sold $84 million worth of the Blu-ray disc box set of all six of the movies in the first week of release worldwide.

A nine-disc set, called “Star Wars: The Complete Saga,” includes deleted, extended and alternate scenes, documentaries and pop-culture spoofs. It was selling on eBay for $100 on Friday.

The first installment, mysteriously called “Episode IV” of the series, debuted on 32 screens in the United States on May 25, 1977. The movie went on to gross $798 million at box offices worldwide and spawned two sequels and three prequels that told the tale of the evil Darth Vader and farmboy-turned-hero Luke Skywalker.
