The statement that came out on the Instagram account of Brinx TV today, on the 2nd of June 2025, John Brenkus passed away from depression on Saturday. Brinx TV, through the statement, informed the public with great sadness that the founder of Base Production and Brinx.TV, and co-creator and host of the 6-time Emmy Award-winning Sports Science, was battling with depression. The statement further revealed that he lost his battle with mental health illness on the 31st of May 2025. During the interview, John revealed he ended up falling into depression after selling off Sport Science to ESPN in 2010. He mentioned that he felt mentally lost and suicidal as well. John Brenkus was the creator of the show “Science Sports,” in which athletic feats were analyzed through science. The show first debuted back in 2007 on Fox Sports Net and was later sold to ESPN in 2010. The success of “Sports Science” was commendable and earned a total of 6 Emmy Awards. It hosted over 1,800 segments in total and invited popular sports stars like Drew Brees. John later founded Brinx TV as well and started working on the production of several shows like “The Goat Code,” which was going to explain the sports science related to steroids.
