Soledad O'Brien to leave CNN anchor postSoledad O?Brien, host of morning show Starting Point, is set to leave her anchor spot at CNN in May or June of this year. The decision was made after new CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker took over the network last month. Though she will no longer appear on the show, she will continue to ?supply documentaries to CNN on a nonexclusive basis?. Those documentaries will, namely, be new installments of the ?Black in America? CNN franchise.?????

O?Brien is reportedly looking forward to launching her own production company, Starfish Media. In several interviews since the news broke, she has been quoted as saying that the change will give her the opportunity to own her own work and create other scripted and non-scripted programming for other outlets.?

Though Zucker hasn’t given many interviews on the subject, O’Brien has stated her opinion on why the show was part of his overhaul.

“We did not get a lot of promotion. We did not get a lot of marketing. We weren’t fully staffed,” she said. “That’s just what happened.”
