Healthy Gal active wear is a unique, new line of workout clothing, made from one-of-a-kind fabric from Brazil and designed for both comfort and style. What?s more? To quote Sly & The Family Stone, it?s a family affair. Warwick and her daughter-in-law Luana Elliott launched the line.
Geared towards curvy women, the line was launched in 2014 and re-launched in February 2015.
?Through Healthy Gal, we are developing perfect-fit products for curvy women with ?real bodies,?? says Elliott.??
A personal fitness trainer based in Los Angeles, Elliott says that Healthy Gal was born as a result of talking with her clients about fashion and beauty. ?My clients loved all of the pairs of leggings I wore. I developed a few for the girls, and they fell in love with those, too,? she shares.
Priced at anywhere from $49 to $89, the materials used to make the products are indigenous to Brazil. ?People will not find the fabric here. It?s one-of-a-kind,? Warwick told TNJ.com.
Warwick continues, ?I see the line becoming bigger than life. Leggings are a fashion statement. This line will be around for a while.?????
According to Elliott, the line is versatile. Some of the leggings are ?double-faced,? with one side designed for a workout and the other side designed to go out afterwards. There are also high-waisted ones that are good for yoga and squats. There are also t-shirts made from cotton or Brazilian spandex. Best of all, ?The material camouflages cellulite and other problems. And the leggings have a shaper aspect for tummy control!? says Elliott.
And like any business, there were challenges. ?As with any business, we had to find our identity and who we wanted to target. We had to figure out what problem we wanted to solve. Funding comes when your product is right ? when you?ve addressed a problem that you want to solve,? explains Elliott.
Elliot says in helping women get the shape they?ve always dreamed of, she?s found her clientele. ?These are real women with real bodies. They are my customers, my friends, my clients ? and they have real stories. It is a constant exchange. They are priceless and they will always give me the right feedback,? she gushes.
They?ve even expanded to include a jewelry line: stylish bracelets made of sterling silver alphabet beads, black or brown denim cord, and color- faceted Pyrite ? all with empowering, motivating messages such as ?wisdom,? ?power? and ?bliss.?
Currently, Healthy Gal products are available only on HealthyGal.net, but the duo hopes to get the line into retail outlets.
Says Warwick, ?Debbie Allen has a dance studio in Los Angeles and Judith Jamison was the Artistic Director at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. I know both of them. We?re looking into places like those where we know that people will utilize our products.?????
And since no business is complete these days without social media plans, Healthy Gal wants followers and fans to send in videos of themselves singing songs from Warwick?s extensive music catalog. The winner will get a $500 credit towards a purchase of Healthy Gal products.
?It?s the perfect link,? beams Elliott. ?No workout activity is complete without music.?
And Warwick will pick the winner, of course.
