An incident was spotted in Tennessee, where a woman was found using multiple bug foggers to evict a family. Bug foggers release a highly dangerous and poisonous gas, which can lead to critical diseases and even death. Such a substance was used to force the family out of the apartment, as they were not ready to vacate the space. The woman is charged with multiple child abuse charges, as her impatient behavior sent a 4-year-old child to the hospital in a critical condition. The rest of the family is still not over the incident that almost killed their whole family, and their child is already lying in a hospital bed. The authorities state this attempt as an illegal practice of eviction and have taken action against the woman, Ervyana Davis.

As per the authorities, Ervyana Davis placed 16 bug foggers in the apartment in which two children and a mother were staying ahead of their eviction notice. Davis is a 23-year-old woman who has been charged with a severe crime and child abuse charges for her reckless way of taking the law into her own hands. This incident was reported on 4 July in Nashville and is under investigation by the local police department.

What happened in Nashville?

According to the local news outlets, David admitted in her statement that the family wasn’t vacating the house. Thus, she decided to fumigate the space and take the matter into her own hands when the family was inside the apartment. According to the police, she used around 5 to 16 bug foggers, which are extremely poisonous in their chemical properties. However, these chemicals are used primarily to kill the insects inside homes on the condition that the people leave the space vacant for a few hours.

These precautions were abruptly ignored by Ervyana Davis, as she planted not one but a maximum of 16 bug foggers in the house. According to police, she kept these outside the air spaces and doorways of the house, and the gas quickly started to spread inside. The 4-year-old child was the most affected by the poisonous gas, as he struggled to breathe in the house. By the time his mother managed to get them out of the house, the child collapsed on the floor.

Ambulance and other emergency services were called in front of the apartment to manage the situation. The child was rushed to the hospital for proper treatment for the chemical inhalation. The child is now safe, but the doctor warned that he could have had severe effects if he had been exposed to the gas more than he did now.

Ervyana Davis intimidated the family.

The family claimed that Davis has used uncertain ways to get their family out of the apartment several times. The lady admitted that she was constantly threatened to leave the house, even when she was regular with her rent. In her statement, she claimed that she wanted her family to leave and would make sure that they wouldn’t live there for long. An advocate brought this issue to light, saying these incidents have become quite common in the US. According to him, many affordable areas have limited options for housing, which leads to such incidents.

Megan Fields, the director of the Tennessee Fair Housing Alliance, said that this incident is not surprising. The landlords get proud and bold with their position and begin to think that they have surpassed the law. In such cases, they tend to force the tenants out of their homes without any legal notice in unethical ways.

Legal Actions against Ervyana Davis

Ervyana Davis was arrested by the police department on Saturday and was charged with several criminal activities. She is dealing with the charges of two felonies, child abuse, and some pending charges against her, which will be added soon. These pending charges include criminal mischief and unethical eviction, for her intimidating and dangerous methods to get her way. Her first court hearing is scheduled for 9 July 2025, when her crime statement will be announced. In Tennessee, if a person is convicted of a charge of felony, he/she is sentenced to a minimum period of 15 years.

Impact of bug foggers on human health

Total-release foggers are mainly used to kill insects like cockroaches and bugs, which are composed of harmful toxins. It consists of pyrethrins and other fatal compounds that can cause serious health issues, especially in children, elderly people, and people with respiratory illnesses. Many such incidents are reported every year due to improper use of bug foggers, which, at high levels, cause severe consequences. It may lead to severe neurological issues, pulmonary edema, or even death, in rare cases of extreme chemical inhalation.

This shows how the incident with the child was the tip of an iceberg, while he was suffering from 16 bug foggers’ smoke in the house. The woman in crime has not just used an illegal eviction method but has committed an attempted medical crime.

What will be the next step?

Ervyana Davis will go through a psychological test before she is taken for her first hearing, considering her age and the violent action she took. On the other hand, the victim’s family is currently staying at their relatives’ house in search of a plot to live. In their struggle to find a house, several non-profit organizations are standing beside them for support.

The people are siding with the small family, demanding justice for what happened to them. According to them, every person has the right to feel safe in their house without any added pressure of eviction.

Conclusion

Such cases have been haunting the streets of Nashville more than ever. Until proper actions are taken against the people who disregard the law, these will worsen in the city. Moreover, this case makes the citizens aware of the heights people can go to have their way in certain things.
