The Los Angeles Lakers star Shaquille O’Neal appeared on the live Inside The NBA broadcast. During the show, Shaq had a mild disagreement with the co-host of the show Adam Lefkoe. The disagreement was about how good the Pistons were. The NBA legend played down the hot streak of Detroit saying they are not winning any championship. However, it was when he started praising the Pistons that things started going downhill for him. The argument ultimately led to his embarrassing slip-up which Candice Parker immediately called out.

What Did Shaq Say That Had Candace Jump In?

The four-time NBA champion mentioned how Cade Cunningham is a great player now and how he’s playing at his own pace. He also added that anyone who’s consistently playing at their pace and putting up numbers is a good player. Shaq said he likes the way he’s playing and he also likes what Chauncey is doing. 

It was clear the NBA legend was referring to Chauncey Billups. It is definitely true Billups is a great player for the Pistons. He has spent 7 years with the team in two spells as a player. However, he has never been a coach to the Pistons. Candace immediately jumped in calling his error out. When questioned about his error, he asked Candace if Chauncey was the coach. Vince Carter told him that it was actually J.B. Bickerstaff, who’s currently the head coach of Detroit.

What The NBA Legend Said Confessing His Mistake?

Lefkoe mentioned it was Detroit who was keeping the season exciting. However, Shaq dismissed that saying they are boring too. Shaquille did not get the stats right either. He said that the Pistons have a record of 4 games under 500. This was immediately called out as false as well after Lefkoe checked on the phone and revealed it was actually 6 games under 500. After making two major slip-ups Shaq had no choice but to accept his mistake. He revealed on the live show that he doesn’t watch Detroit. In addition to that, he addressed the Chauncey error as well saying he made a mistake.
