Shani Sandy is dedicated to a life rooted in art and design, education and practice. Executive creative director at S&P Global, she has a B.A. in art history and a B.F.A. in painting and computer art from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She served on the arts boards of the Bronx Charter School for the Arts and the Brooklyn Museum?s Young Leaders Circle. Sandy works to promote African-Americans in the design field ? the chosen topic of her graduate thesis. She envisions building schools ?with a creative focus on a global level, specifically in communities of the African diaspora.?

At S&P, Sandy leads creative strategy and execution and the design practice with a team of creative professionals. ?It is a role requiring vision and discipline to come to the table with fresh and compelling ideas and see them through to implementation, all while connecting them to business strategy,? she says. ?This type of work can be articulated through print, digital, augmented reality/virtual reality and combined mediums, to various channels, such as advertising, websites or events.? The combination of creativity and business strategy intrigues her. She takes issue with the belief that creative individuals and business people are on opposite ends of the spectrum. ?Both worlds are about re-imagining the world around us, whether it is through bringing to light new perspectives or providing a needed offering. It?s just that the way we may manifest those goals are different, through different tools or modes of thinking.?

Her MBA from the Berlin School of Creative Leadership at Steinbeis University, Germany, enhanced her career. ?It provided valuable exposure to leadership strategies,? she recalls, ?and deepened my perspectives through world travel and relationships with diverse classmates.?
