Roland S. Martin poses for discussion about new show News One Now Journalist, author and syndicated columnist Roland Martin was tapped to host TV One?s new show, News One Now. Billed as the first morning news program in history to focus on news and analysis of politics, entertainment, sports, and culture from an explicitly African American perspective, News One will premiere on Monday, November 4, at 9:00 a.m.

Alfred Liggins, chairman of TV One and CEO and president of Radio One, recently released the following statement: “Filling a glaring gap in the current cable news programming landscape,?News One Now builds off our online success, extending our presence to a complete multi-platform experience where we can serve the African American audience with news and analysis that is specially curated to suit their needs, concerns, interests and passions.”

Prior to his new post, Martin was the host of TV One’s Washington Watch with Roland Martin. It ran for four years. He was also a CNN contributor and has appeared on several of the network?s shows including The Situation Room and Anderson Cooper?s AC360.

“Our program will not only keep Black America abreast of major breaking news and hot-button issues, it will also shed light on peripheral stories that spotlight events and individuals making a concentrated, positive impact in our communities,” said Martin. “Our audience can not only expect to be informed, but also enlightened and inspired.”

Martin is the recipient of the National Association of Black Journalist?s 2013 Journalist of the Year award.
